Digital Mapping and Data Conversion

Margaret Gowen & Co. Ltd. have been involved with some of the largest infrastructural and civil engineering projects in Ireland. To facilitate these projects we have a large investment in IT hardware and software to provide resources to deal with large scale vector mapping, raster mapping and associated data sets.

N11 Route Selection mapping with archaeological data sets.

Common mapping tasks for large projects involve the addition of archaeological and built heritage information from various data sources. These include, the RMP database, Raster based historic mapping and  survey information gathered in the field.

We use GIS software to help with the identification of archaeologically sensitive areas and generation of buffer zones, thematic mapping and the production of specialist cartographic maps for reports and publications.

Among the most common software and information systems utilised by our surveyors are AutoCAD, Autodesk Map 3D, Land Development Desktop, ArcView, Surfer, Photomodeler, Geoplot, Photoshop and Illustrator.
