Contouring and Terrain Visualisation

A natural complement to any map or plan is the use of contours. Contouring gives an easily readable visual representation of a complex surface.

Interpolation of spot height information using terrain modelling software enables us to generate a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and subsequently contour data. The use of break line features to accurately show unnatural changes in surface slope provides a more realistic interpretation of the surface and helps produce accurate cross sections.

Contour and DTM generation

For historic landscape interpretation and visualisation our surveyors regularly carry out high resolution spot height surveys, gathering data at up to 0.25m intervals.
