Constraints Studies identify all recorded archaeological monuments, including their legal status, within a specified study area. The purpose of the study is to collate information from existing sources and assess and identify any significant constraints. The information is used to inform the design process and later stages of the planning process.

Constraints Studies produced at Margaret Gowen and Co Ltd capitalise on advances in technology and the availability of digital and GIS datasets online to produce interactive mapping. Our results are easily incorporated in to the overall planning framework and are accurate, user-friendly and compatible with other specialist areas.

The data collection information that takes place at Constraints Study stage is based on a desk study. All known and recorded monument constraints are represented visually on a map.
